I've Been Feeling Psychedelic Lately...

Dum dee dum dee dum. Feeling very productive lately. That's always a good feeling. I hate it when I feel sluggish and can't seem to accomplish anything. D:

Yesterday, I finished sculpting and glitterizing over 25 polymer clay leaves, which are about to be baked in the oven after this post is written. They'll be added to ear cuffs as a dangly adornment like in the photo below. I really love making these ear cuffs because they truly are made by me... I twist the wire into the desired shapes, securing the crystals carefully by weaving really thin wire, and finally adding a sparkly dangly leaf bead that I sculpted and coloured by hand. Pretty amazing! :)

I planted four oregano cuttings into little Styrofoam cups, in the hopes that they will propagate new plants. It's not really the right time of year for this, but I'm trying anyway. I've covered each plant with a ziplock bag, in an attempt to keep the humidity inside, and encourage the roots to grow. I'll keep you updated on these little guys.

I finished a nifty little Psychedelic Tattooed Lady illustration, which was TONNES of fun. I really love any excuse to use lots of colour with very little fore-thought. This piece was done with watercolours and ink, on bristol paper. She's pretty tiny, measuring at 3.5 x 5.5 inches, and is for sale for $45. Contact me if you're interested, first come, first serve. :)

And lastly, we tried out the slow-cooker, aka crock pot, for the first time. The Pot Roast was perfectly moist and fell off the bone, and the veggies were just the right hard/soft texture. Next we're going to try making Sweet and Sour Chicken (with rice). Should be good! :)

Art Desk & Mystery Project

Hello everybody!

I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday.

The big mystery project, which involved the painting of oil cans and clothes pins, is actually part of my art area redecoration plan!

As you can see, the teal oil containers are supporting a board which I'm using as a make-shift shelf. On top of the shelf I'm storing jewelry making supplies at the moment, but later it may hold painting supplies, or sculpting supplies too.

The decorations on the wall are going to be changing as well (which is the second part of the mystery project). Right now there's a cardboard cut out Jack Sparrow, a ceramic sun I painted over ten years ago, and a beautiful manga-style print I purchased at a con a time back, and always meant to frame.

Painting, Sculpting, Potting

I feel super productive lately!

Last night, I actually felt the urge to pick up my paint brush, and inking pens, and work on my Spirited Away illustration. I've been feeling such a lack of passion and enthusiasm for so long, that it's great to feel inspired again.

The first batch of polymer clay leaves are out of the oven and cooling off right now. They may still be a bit soft, so I might have to put them in for another few minutes. I have to be really careful not to burn the clay, lol... I've had interesting accidents in the past.

And I've been organizing my collection of small pots I bought at the thrift store over the past month for my balcony/window herb garden. I wanted a mix of eclectic pots, of various styles and materials, to create an interesting look.

Polymer Clay Leaves

Namaste! (nah-mah-stay - hello in Hindi)

I've been away from the blog-o-sphere working on some artsy projects - and I finally feel like I'm getting back into the groove of things. I think it really helped for me to make some posts on my inspirations and favourite things, to get the fountain of inspiration flowing again. What have I been working on?

The larger leaves are for necklaces and the smaller leaves are for earrings and ear cuffs.

Easter Fun Style!

Part Two: When glue gun runs out of glue and all of the stores are closed - improvise and do something totally different! So here are some random 'Eastery' photos I took.

I found this really cute candle stick holder from Value Village a week or so ago, and fell in love! I think it looks so cute filled with Easter candies, and will look enchanting on my balcony, where I'm making a tiny Faerie garden.

I hand sewed this wrist cuff out of fabrics, ribbons, and random pretties I discovered at the fabric store. It's inspired by the Victorian era (the colour pallet), and the textures and layering and over all excessiveness, is inspired by the French Baroque period. I also painted my nails a pastel colour that suited the creme colours of the fabrics. I think it looks so enchanting next to an old illustration from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. （*´▽｀*）

Tomorrow, if I can get a hold of some glue sticks for my glue gun, I'll start work on my Easter/Spring craft.
