Thrifting at Value Village

Today I went to Value Village on the look out for some summer clothes. Finding nice plus-sized clothes is always a challenge, and today I am very proud of my haul! 

I got six new summer tops in a variety of colours, as well as two new skirts in a paisley print, and a graphic black and white print. 

I also spotted three small wooden frames, and snapped them up. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but they're exactly the kind of vintage style frames I love.

Thrifting in Kelowna - Part 1

While I was in Kelowna during the summer, Lauren wanted to visit Value Village, and do some Halloween costume shopping & general thrifting. Of course, I couldn't say no!

I almost took this deer home with me. I kind of regret not actually buying it.

Wicked cool chess pieces... hand carved from wood.. and they were quite big too!

Going thrifting is always a fun adventure. There's so many interesting objects and curious, that I'm lucky I have a discerning eye & shallow pocket, or I'd be going home with truck loads of junk treasure.

Summer Thrifting pt 1

Hey guys!

My birthday was last week, so in celebration, I did a lot of thrift store shopping!
My thrifting style is a bit different than some of my favourite bloggers. I'm not a big fan of kitsch decor, vintage clothes, or cute animal figurines, at least not in my own home. I'm very interested however in antiques, interesting and odd curios, things I can use, unique but trendy clothing, and books! I always come home with bundles and bundles of books at the thrift store. Sometimes I think the prices they charge are too high though, considering some of them are old discards from libraries and such.

I saw these three picture frames sitting in one of those grab bags along the wall. Usually I just skip over that stuff, cause it's filled with old hair ties, barbie shoes, and paper clips, but this one was certainly something special. I'd like to do three original drawings for each of the frames, and possibly put them up for sale.

Thrifting Adventure!

Ever since I was a kid, I've loved a good treasure hunt. And now, in my ripe old age of 25, almost 26, I take the opportunity to hunt for cheap little treasures at my local thrift stores. Join me on an adventure from a few months back!

As many of you may have noticed, I'm nuts for damask patterns. 

A cute coin purse. These purses always remind me of grandmothers. 

A cute little trinket that I took home with me. It's hand painted made in Japan. 

I had no clue what I would do with this - so I didn't buy it. But boy did I want to!

Two different times I came into the store and spotted this gorgeous treasure. 

I am mega jealous of this lady's quilt & knitting abilities. I have yet to find a quilt so rad.

My Weekend + Craigslist & Thrifted Treasures

Hello all! Hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

As usual, we had our friends staying with us over the weekend. Marcus (age 10), and I spent most of the weekend playing cod zombies on xbox, and walking the dog around the courtyard, and laughing like dorks. I love that kid. He's grown so fast over this past year... he's almost as tall as me, and I'm sure within a month or two he'll be taller!

FABULOUS FIND via Craigslist. This chair feels as soft as suede, looks brand new, is super comfy, and best of all, only cost $35!! Can you believe it?! I've already spent time sitting in the chair (when it's not occupied by Hon Hon, and sketching in my little sketchbook.

cool whip. Soooooooo yummy!
