Animal Shelter Visit

A couple of weeks ago I visited the local, no kill, animal shelter. My best friend and I used to volunteer there in our teens, walking the dogs at the local park, and petting/cuddling all the kitties. My mom and I thinking of adopting a second cat soon, and would like to adopt from this place, in support of their humane practices.

I couldn't help sneaking some photos of the cute kitties (no flash).

The cats have two large spaces to sprawl. One in the room inside the building, that has shelves with cat cages & food, and the second is a large outdoor enclosure, facing a woodland park. The cats move freely from these two rooms, and seem quite peaceful and content.

Fat cat! One of the biggest cats in the room. ^_^
Look who's tail is poking out! :P

Peek-a-Boo!
We haven't chosen a cat yet, as they were all kind of sleeping and we didn't want to disturb them. They said they are expecting baby kittens soon, and while I generally prefer older cats, a kitten would be a great companion for Honey, who has tons and tons of energy to burn and loves playing with other cats.

Have you visited your shelter lately? Adopting anyone into your family?

  3. Such cute kitties! And I love the setup they have for the cats there at the shelter. Our shelter here is pretty small - they don't have much room We have four cats. They definitely make life entertaining around here. I hope you post pics when you adopt a new one :)

  4. I always regret visiting and get attached to one or few babies. I already have four dogs... I'm sure I just need *one* more haha!

  5. I love the idea of animal shelters that have a "no kill" policy. Thanks for the reminder that I need to go volunteer over there pretty soon!
